Senior Data Scientist

Jacobs is involved in solving critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, and cutting-edge manufacturing. The Senior Data Scientist will support internal Jacobs initiatives across MSA Mining and Sales Data Science.

• Senior-level data science experience, typically 5+ years in data science, advanced analytics, or related field
• Strong Python skills and practical experience with pandas and core data science libraries
• Experience developing regression models, statistical models, segmentations, and machine learning solutions
• Strong understanding of statistics, exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation
• Experience with data mining processes, data preparation, and data scraping
• Ability to work with messy, real-world business data and convert it into useful analytical outputs
• Experience working in consulting or client-facing delivery environments
• Strong English communication skills and confidence working with UK-based stakeholders

• Develop predictive models and machine learning solutions for business systems and commercial use cases
• Apply regression, classification, segmentation, forecasting, and other statistical modelling techniques
• Explore, clean, transform, and analyse structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
• Build repeatable data-mining processes including data sourcing and scraping, feature engineering, modelling, and evaluation
• Use Python and data science libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and SciPy
• Translate business questions into analytical approaches, explain results clearly, and make practical recommendations
• Support MSA Mining activities on the Azure stack
• Support long-term Sales Data Science including model development and statistical analysis
• Work closely with UK stakeholders and consulting teams, contributing to workshops, technical discussions, and delivery planning
• Document assumptions, methodologies, model performance, and limitations

Nice to have:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure-based data/AI services
• Experience with Palantir Foundry
• Experience with PySpark, SQL, XGBoost, time-series forecasting, or NLP
• Experience with data visualisation using Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly
• Experience supporting sales, bid, commercial, or business-performance analytics
• Knowledge of Git, Docker, or productionisation of data science models
