Software Engineer, SAP ABAP Development (m/f/d)

Required:

• Solid proficiency in classical and modern ABAP language syntax and development
• Deep experience with ABAP Objects including interfaces, inheritance, exceptions, design patterns (factory, builder, dispatcher, task queue)
• Strong ABAP Dictionary skills: tables, views, data elements, domains, lock objects
• Hands-on experience with RFC and parallel processing (asynchronous RFC, task queues, enqueue locking, background jobs, shared memory)
• Experience with HTTP/REST integration and serialization/parsing of JSON and XML at high volume
• Performance-minded development with efficient Open SQL, internal table handling, runtime analysis
• Understanding of core computer engineering principles
• Experience across full SDLC including development, testing, transport management, and production support
• Familiarity with SAP security concepts for ABAP including authorization objects, input validation, injection prevention
• Ability to write maintainable code
• Curiosity and discipline to learn and apply new techniques

Strong Preference:

• Experience with modern ABAP practices: RAP, ABAP for Cloud, Clean ABAP guidelines, ABAP Unit testing
• Familiarity with SAP observability, monitoring, or security tooling (SAP Solution Manager, SIEM, Splunk, Dynatrace)
• Experience in product companies with production software
• Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD in SAP context
• Experience with AI-assisted development tooling
• Knowledge of observability protocols and platforms: Splunk, Dynatrace, Elastic, OCI Logging
• Experience querying and monitoring SAP HANA via ADBC/native SQL
• Familiarity with SAP integration/replication technologies: SAP Gateway/OData, SLT/LTRC, IDoc/ALE, AIF

ABAP Development & Feature Delivery:

• Deliver new features and enhancements with clean, well-annotated, vulnerability-free ABAP code
• Apply both functional and object-oriented programming principles fluently
• Write readable and maintainable code with meaningful variable names and comments
• Ensure code is free from security vulnerabilities

Software Development Lifecycle Ownership:

• Write and maintain unit tests and contribute to integration testing coverage
• Participate actively in code reviews
• Manage transport and release packaging ensuring traceable changes through environments
• Support root cause analysis and process improvements for production defects

Product Support:

• Provide technical escalation support for complex customer issues requiring ABAP-level diagnosis
• Translate customer-reported problems into clear defects and drive timely resolutions
• Build documentation and tooling to reduce escalation frequency and cost

Continuous Learning & Technical Growth:

• Stay current with modern ABAP practices including RAP, ABAP for Cloud, ABAP Unit, and AI-assisted development
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing via write-ups, docs, and tech talks
• Understand product, customers, and business context to improve engineering decisions

This role is open in Poland and Germany. Employment terms follow local labor laws (Polish Labour Code or German employment law including § 622 BGB). Working language is English.
