Senior Staff Engineer

The team is globally distributed with members across multiple countries including Poland. The company's mission is focused on improving the lives of service professionals, supporting approximately 75,000 unique daily users with a high app rating (4.6⭐ at the App Store).

• 9+ years of experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems
• Deep experience in modern backend frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Django, and Spring Boot
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages including JavaScript, Python, Go, Java, and Node.js
• Deep expertise with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), containerization, and serverless/cloud-native architectures
• Proven success applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
• Experience architecting and building event-driven systems using distributed messaging tools like Kafka and SQS
• Experience defining and improving CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Gitlab) and automated testing strategies such as e2e, canary tests, and integration tests
• Expertise in scalable API design and management (e.g., RESTful APIs, GraphQL)
• Strong background in system observability practices including logs, metrics, tracing, and performance diagnostics
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Passion for using AI technologies to enhance productivity, quality, and innovation
• Curiosity and drive to stay ahead of emerging AI/ML technologies and applications
• Ownership mentality balancing urgency and long-term system health

• Drive the long-term technical vision and architectural evolution of the platform
• Serve as a trusted technical partner to Engineering Managers, Directors, and Product leadership
• Mentor engineers across the organization
• Guide the transition from a monolithic Ruby on Rails app to a distributed, event-driven, domain-oriented architecture
• Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and deliver scalable and reliable architecture
• Define subsystem boundaries and make recommendations on functionality placement
• Develop and maintain code quality standards and enforce them across the organization
• Identify and drive architectural enhancements and strategic refactorings to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Design and implement automated tests at the architectural layer
• Conduct code and architectural reviews
• Lead reviews to ensure alignment with system design principles and engineering excellence
• Maintain and improve continuous integration and development environments

This role is open to candidates located in Poland. Salary for the successful candidate will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.
