Senior Software Engineer, AI Intelligence Platform

Aura develops intelligent digital safety products that protect millions of customers against digital threats, with over 400 people worldwide. The role focuses on Aura's AI Intelligence Platform, which unifies data and bridges AI agents with security and privacy foundations.

• 5-8+ years professional software engineering experience with complex, large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience owning systems end-to-end from architecture to production operation.
• Strong understanding of software design, data structures, algorithms, and distributed-systems fundamentals.
• In-depth cloud technology knowledge including serverless, containerized services, relational and NoSQL databases, caches, queues, and data pipelines.
• Experience building systems handling sensitive/regulated data with security and privacy as design constraints.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies rapidly in AI landscape.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have:

• Experience building AI/LLM-powered production systems like agents, retrieval pipelines, evaluation, or observability.
• Background in security, privacy engineering, or trust & safety.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms and data-intensive systems.
• Familiarity with AWS and Infrastructure as Code.

• Design, document, and drive architecture for key platform components ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and business alignment.
• Own initiatives from design through deployment, translating ambiguous product goals into clear technical requirements.
• Build a trusted, high-quality data foundation for intelligence generation.
• Architect AI agent data access ensuring least-privilege, strong isolation, and enforceable privacy guarantees.
• Develop systems delivering personalized safety insights to customers.
• Make and defend technology choices balancing scalability, cost, and simplicity.
• Champion engineering best practices for security, privacy, observability, testing, and operational excellence.
• Provide technical mentorship on design, performance tuning, and reliability.
