Art Director

Play of Battle S.A. is developing an ambitious Grand Strategy / RTS game and is located in Warsaw. The role includes shaping the entire artistic direction of a modern-day IP and leading a multidisciplinary art team.

• Proven experience as an Art Lead in the games industry with at least one shipped PC/Console title
• Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional artistic sense, worldbuilding skills, and visual storytelling
• Expertise in art fundamentals including color theory, lighting, composition, and 2D/3D art pipelines
• Excellent visual documentation and communication skills
• Outstanding leadership and mentoring skills in a production environment
• Ability to work closely with game designers and engineers
• Fluent English
• 5+ years of experience in game development including leadership roles
• Ability to work onsite in Warsaw

Bonus Points:

• Strong passion for strategy games, especially Grand Strategy or RTS titles
• Experience with the Unity engine and optimizing assets
• Experience setting art direction from scratch for new IPs
• Familiarity with modern military themes

• Define, drive, and uphold a cohesive artistic vision for the game (visual style, tone, atmosphere)
• Lead, inspire, and mentor a multidisciplinary art team including 2D/3D artists, concept artists, animators, and UI/UX designers
• Collaborate closely with design, tech, and production teams to align visuals with gameplay and narrative goals
• Oversee the creation of key art, moodboards, visual references, and style guides
• Set and maintain high-quality benchmarks for the game's visuals, blending realism with unique aesthetics
• Supervise the full art pipeline and provide actionable feedback to internal and external teams
• Support recruitment, development, and growth of the art department
