Senior Backend Engineer (Poland, Remote)

First Connect Insurance Services is a digital marketplace providing independent insurance agents access to top US carriers. The company helps agents work with 150+ carriers, selling various insurance policies including home, auto, and small business. It aims to overhaul the technology available to agents by delivering consumer-grade software and accelerating growth with thousands of active agents.

• 6+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with asynchronous system architecture.
• Strong theoretical foundation in design patterns and clean architecture.
• Teamwork, cooperation, mentoring, and excellent communication skills.
• Startup mindset with high ownership and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Growth mindset and ability to work with legacy code safely.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn modern LLM tools.
• Based in Poland with partial US timezone overlap availability.
• Fluency in English (C1) and Polish (C2).

• Drive Access Automation & SSO: Implement SSO solutions and API integrations to scale systems from manual processes to automated workflows.
• Tackle Complex Challenges: Analyze legacy systems and rebuild licenses and access-sharing structures with careful architectural planning.
• Manage Critical Funnel & Side Domains: Own sign-up, onboarding, producer state automations, compliance, team member features, and legal access regulations.
• Balance High Velocity with Reliability: Handle urgent compliance or SSO requests while maintaining onboarding funnel reliability.
• Communicate & Collaborate Universally: Participate in technical discussions, product discovery, and translate product requirements into architecture; communicate with external clients when needed.
