Data Engineer

Coople is a data-driven organization with approximately 120 employees across locations in Warsaw, London, and Zürich. The role involves working closely with Warsaw-based teams as well as stakeholders and clients in other locations.

• Around 5 years of experience with strong data engineering fundamentals including SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and production data pipeline operation.
• Experience with Databricks including Spark/Delta, notebooks, jobs/workflows, and Delta Lake concepts.
• Proficient in building and operating a Data Lake.
• Strong knowledge of Power BI including data modeling, measures, performance considerations, and reporting.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing strategies, observability, performance tuning, and production readiness for data pipelines.
• Experience owning data end-to-end: ingestion, transformation, data quality, and delivering business-facing artifacts.
• Experience enabling data democratization with self-service, documentation, metric definitions, and usability for non-technical stakeholders.
• Interest in conversational data experiences, such as chat-based access to metrics, definitions, and insights.
• AI-first development mindset comfortable using AI tools for code generation, review, test creation, and documentation.
• Fluent English.

• Own the full data lifecycle: ingestion from source systems, building and maintaining pipelines into the Data Lake, and curating trustworthy datasets for analytics and reporting.
• Deliver dashboards and reporting in Power BI while collaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements and standardize metric definitions.
• Reduce friction to data access and maintain a single source of truth for key metrics, definitions, and ownership.
• Support and help shape a chat-based interface for natural language querying of data for stakeholders.
• Evolve the data stack and development environment towards AI-optimized workflows including automation and review practices.
• Use AI to improve data quality, testing, lineage documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Partner with Warsaw development teams to ensure robust data contracts, event definitions, and system integrations.
• Maintain operational hygiene through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.
