COBOL Developer / Architect with German

This role involves working for a large insurance company focused on mainframe application development and support within the insurance/pension industry.

• Extensive experience with COBOL development in IBM Mainframe environments.
• Strong knowledge of TSO / ISPF, COBOL, JCL, Control-M, IMS DB/DC, DB2, VSAM, Batch Processing, XINFO, and Dialog Processing.
• Experience with Jira and Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
• Understanding of mainframe application architecture and production support processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership.

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL-based mainframe applications.
• Analyze business and technical requirements to create robust technical solutions.
• Support application lifecycle activities including incident resolution, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Perform impact assessments and define technical approaches for system enhancements.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term application evolution.
• Ensure high-quality documentation and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with distributed teams and business stakeholders in German and English.
• Support operational activities and ensure adherence to established processes and SLAs.

Professional proficiency in German and English (minimum B2). Hybrid work mode requiring office presence in Germany twice a month consecutively.
