Product Engineer

Knapsack is the product company behind Knapsack Pro, a developer-tool that helps engineers optimize CI test runs since 2014. The company is a small team located in Kraków, Poland, mostly working remotely. The role involves working on a product with tens of thousands of daily users, taking ownership of projects, and supporting various technologies such as Heroku, AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Ruby/Rails, JavaScript/TypeScript, and multiple CI systems.

• Four or more years of professional experience, preferably including a Product/DevTool Engineer role.
• Proficiency in writing pragmatic and performant code.
• Experience designing public APIs, dev-tools, and user experiences.
• Data-driven approach to evaluate alternatives and select optimal solutions.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to self-direct and work on complex projects.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, experiment-oriented environment.
• Preferably located in Kraków, Poland.

Nice to have:

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Knowledge of AWS, Heroku, Redis.

• Develop pragmatic, performant code and design public APIs, dev-tools, and user experiences.
• Engage in full project lifecycle: ideation, scoping, execution, and maintenance.
• Communicate actively with users to ensure their needs are fulfilled.
• Take ownership and responsibility for delivered solutions.
• Respond to support tickets and participate in Pager Duty.
• Work comfortably in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Collaborate on recent projects such as PREDICT, Retry-only-Failures, API rewrite, and support for Vitest and Playwright.
