Engineering Lead/Manager

CreatorIQ is engaged in projects involving high-scale distributed systems and payments platforms with a focus on fintech, banking, and financial transaction systems.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience including backend or full-stack development.
• 2+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience.
• Strong experience designing, building, and operating high-scale distributed systems processing high volumes of transactions or financial data.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts: asynchronous processing, idempotency, retries, concurrency, data consistency, transactional integrity, fault tolerance.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, transactions, and database performance.
• Experience designing and operating APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with event-driven or queue-based architectures such as AWS SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Experience operating systems in AWS or another major cloud platform.
• Strong knowledge of testing strategies, observability, monitoring, alerting, and production incident management.
• Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs balancing speed, quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong communication skills working across Engineering, Product, and business teams.
• Track record of developing engineers and building teams with high ownership and engineering standards.
• Experience with payments, fintech, banking, accounting, or other financial transaction systems is highly valued.
• Experience scaling systems during rapid product and business growth, including modernizing production systems, is valuable.
• Familiarity with PHP, JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and AWS SQS is a plus.
• Exposure to security, compliance, or audit requirements within financial systems is advantageous.

• Lead and develop a team of full-stack engineers, fostering ownership and accountability.
• Own technical execution and engineering quality of the payments platform.
• Partner with Product to translate business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Define and evolve the architecture and technical direction of a high-scale distributed payments system.
• Ensure systems are reliable, scalable, resilient, and maintainable.
• Establish high engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, deployment, and operational readiness.
• Guide engineers through complex technical decisions involving distributed systems and third-party integrations.
• Drive system performance, reliability, monitoring, and incident prevention improvements.
• Ensure safeguards in payment processing such as idempotency, retries, failure handling, and data consistency.
• Lead technical planning balancing feature development, scalability, and technical debt.
• Participate in architecture discussions and reviews for critical changes.
• Continuously improve development and delivery processes.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams on shared services and integrations.
• Support production systems and establish strong incident response and root-cause analysis practices.
• Coach and mentor engineers and support their career growth.
• Help hire and onboard engineers for the Payments team.
• Drive adoption of AI-powered development tools to improve engineering velocity and quality.
• Assist the team in using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
