Backend Engineer (Golang)

Appliscale is an independent Technology Consultancy specializing in bespoke, cloud-based systems and full-cycle engineering - from business analysis to architecture design, development, and deployment. They work across industries such as gaming, proptech, legaltech, and adtech, partnering with startups, scaleups, and Fortune 500 companies worldwide. The current focus is on building intelligent agents that drive automation, streamline operations, and enable scalable agentic ecosystems, with a flat structure, remote-first culture, and self-organized teams.

• 3-5 years of production software development experience using Golang
• Solid hands-on experience in TypeScript
• Ownership or co-ownership of infrastructure for production services including on-call, capacity planning, and incident response
• Experience using Docker and Kubernetes in production
• Experience working with AWS, GCP, and infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Expertise with REST APIs
• Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD processes
• Computer Science degree
• Comfortable with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor)
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as SCRUM and/or Kanban
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Self-motivated and proactive attitude
• Proficiency in English (daily business language)

Nice to have:

• Background in the AdTech sector or experience in low-latency/high-scale environments
• Machine Learning (ML) experience

• Design, write, and test functionalities for a backend system written in Golang
• Deploy and maintain microservices in AWS using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Debug and maintain production systems used by consumers across multiple continents
• Scope and assess the complexity of features
• Participate in sprint planning, daily sprints, and meetings with product owners for grooming new features
• Collaborate with other team members and teams dependent on developed functionalities
