Product Engineer / Product Builder - Backend or Full-stack

Profitroom builds hospitality software used by thousands of hotels and millions of guests.

• Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel or Symfony (backend-led)
• Experience designing backend systems, business logic, data modelling, REST APIs, and integrations
• Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, or distributed architectures
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, caching, and message queues
• Familiar with Docker, CI/CD, and production infrastructure
• Openness to work with JavaScript or TypeScript beyond backend
• Strong commercial experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue.js, component architecture, state management (full-stack)
• Practical knowledge of Tailwind and Pinia or similar tools
• Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel (full-stack)
• Confidence working with APIs, business logic, databases, caching, and backend integrations
• UX sensibility to notice interaction and accessibility problems
• Ability to deliver frontend and backend changes as part of the same feature
• Experience using AI coding environments like Claude Code, Cursor or equivalents
• Experience using AI for technical discovery, test generation, debugging, code exploration, and specification-driven development
• Experience creating MCP servers, agents, skills, or internal AI tooling is an advantage

• Built and shipped side projects
• Independently use AI tools and develop workflows
• Experience with Event Sourcing or CQRS in production
• Contributed to design systems or component libraries
• Designed complex caching, queues, service boundaries, or integrations

• Own technical solutions end-to-end from problem understanding to production and continuous improvement
• Lead backend services or ship complete user-facing features across frontend and backend
• Validate feasibility, identify constraints, and shape technical approach before scope locking
• Make technical decisions balancing customer value, delivery speed, maintainability, and operational risk
• Handle production quality: testing, releasing, monitoring, and hypercare
• Use AI-augmented development tools like Claude Code, MCP servers, custom agents, and internal tooling
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, QA, and other engineers contributing context and trade-offs
• Continuously improve products, systems, and engineering practices

Backend-led Product Engineer:

• Design backend systems and business logic using PHP, Laravel, Symfony, REST APIs, databases, caching, message queues
• Work with microservices, event-driven, or distributed architectures
• Use Docker, CI/CD, and production infrastructure
• Contribute outside the backend when required

Full-stack Product Engineer:

• Frontend and backend development with strong skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue.js, Tailwind, Pinia
• Experience with component architecture, state management, performance, and maintainable frontend systems
• Regularly work with PHP and Laravel alongside backend integrations
• Deliver frontend and backend changes as part of the same feature
• Notice UX issues, accessibility, and inconsistencies proactively
