Mid/Senior Environment Artist (Freelance) — fantasy dungeons / PCG

Skeleton-Labs is developing a project with a procedural dungeon generator producing dungeon rooms automatically with procedural content generation (PCG).

• Mid/Senior Environment Artist with a strong portfolio focusing on environments
• Sense of composition, lighting, and storytelling in spatial design
• Experience with modular kits, dressing, and look development
• Ability to work within an existing pipeline, not from scratch
• Independence in diagnosing problems and proposing solutions for implementation

Nice to have:

• Experience in fantasy realism, especially dungeons, castles, ruins, underground scenes
• Experience with procedural content generation (PCG) and procedural environments (e.g., Unreal PCG, Houdini, proprietary systems)
• Experience working with level generators, modular dungeons, and kitbashing for procedural setups
• Knowledge of Unreal Engine

• Build consistent scene compositions including scale, rhythm, leading lines, lighting, and focal points, ensuring variety across rooms
• Prepare visual themes for rooms (e.g., crypt, throne room, armory, corridor, cells) suitable for procedural reproduction, including palette, materials, dressing, composition rules, props, and variants
• Raise the look of the dungeons towards readable fantasy realism and atmosphere
• Provide manual art direction enabling procedural generation rather than direct asset placement
• Work autonomously from problem diagnosis through implementation within the existing pipeline
• Collaborate with the existing team and procedural dungeon generator
