Mid Back-end Engineer (Node.js)

SwingDev—a hippo company is the Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company, Hippo Insurance. The company focuses on making home insurance smarter and more proactive using technology and builds digital products to support customers in the insurance technology space.

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Practical knowledge of at least one relational database system such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Ability to engage in software design and architecture discussions.
• Experience implementing the test pyramid (module, integration, system tests).
• Team player with good communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and ownership for delivering high-quality work.
• Proficiency in effective security practices.
• Readiness to learn and expand skills based on project needs.
• Good command of English (written and spoken).
• Availability to work across different time zones with occasional evening meetings.

• Implement backends and their interactions with various data stores and third-party APIs.
• Work in an agile environment on impactful business projects.
• Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making.
• Deploy software using Kubernetes clusters and Lambda functions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues by analyzing code, data, and system behavior.
• Implement robust automated test suites to ensure high quality and low failure rates.
• Write and review technical design documents.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Senior and Staff Engineers to translate business requirements into high-quality code.
• Focus on security best practices to protect user data against external threats.
• Develop programming skills and learn about technology business processes in the US.
