System Engineer

Portmann Logistic Polska Sp. z o.o., part of the Swiss Post Group, is building a new IT Center in Poland to support Swiss Post Cargo companies and operations across Europe. The role is primarily based in Warsaw with hybrid working arrangements and includes occasional business travel across European locations for site deployments, migrations, integrations, and operational support.

• CV in English.
• At least 3 years of practical experience in system engineering, infrastructure engineering, or cloud operations.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Windows Server, Active Directory, or Intune.
• Solid networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VPN, and firewall concepts.
• Practical experience administering or troubleshooting enterprise firewalls; FortiGate or WatchGuard experience is advantageous.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and identify root causes systematically.
• Experience with PowerShell or other scripting/automation languages.
• Understanding of enterprise IT practices such as change management, access control, documentation, monitoring, backup/recovery, patching, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening.
• Strong ownership mindset and communication skills.
• Structured and transparent working style with good documentation and task-tracking habits.
• Strong written and spoken English for daily international work.
• Willingness and ability to travel for projects and operational support across Europe.

Nice to have:

• Microsoft certifications related to Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Security, or Endpoint Management.
• Experience with FortiGate, FortiClient, FortiWeb, WatchGuard, or comparable firewall technologies.
• Experience with VMware, Citrix, Veeam, Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, PRTG, Microsoft Sentinel, or similar enterprise tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code or automation tools such as Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, Git workflows, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in multi-country or distributed IT organizations and standardizing infrastructure.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or operationally critical environments.
• Knowledge of ITIL / IT service management and Jira Service Management.
• German, French, or Polish language skills are advantages but not required.

• Operate, maintain, and continuously improve cloud and on-premises infrastructure and platform services.
• Administer and support Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Server, and Active Directory environments.
• Support identity and access management including authentication, permissions, privileged access, and user/group lifecycle processes.
• Design, configure, operate, and troubleshoot network services like LAN/WAN, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewalls.
• Work with FortiGate and WatchGuard firewall platforms to support secure connectivity.
• Operate and improve virtualization, backup, recovery, monitoring, and related infrastructure services.
• Take ownership of complex infrastructure incidents from investigation to resolution, coordinating with internal teams and vendors.
• Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, integrations, rollouts, and site deployments across European locations.
• Automate repetitive administration and operational tasks using PowerShell and Microsoft platform automation.
• Contribute to lifecycle management, patching, vulnerability remediation, security hardening, and service continuity.
• Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, configuration details, architecture records, and handover materials.
• Use Jira / ITSM processes to ensure traceability and transparency of incidents, changes, tasks, and projects.
• Contribute to common infrastructure standards across countries and reduce unnecessary local solutions.
• Share knowledge, support less experienced engineers, and reduce single-person dependencies in the team.
