Full Stack Node.js Engineer

Matrix Eastern Europe, the offshore division of Matrix IT, a global R&D services company with more than 11,000 professionals. The role is part of a team working on high-scale backend pipelines and data-heavy systems, primarily focusing on backend system design and implementation in Kubernetes/AWS environments.

• Production experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong preference for experience with NestJS as the main backend framework.
• Strong experience designing high-scale backend systems including autoscaling, high availability, performance, resilience, and failure modes.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Kafka event-driven systems including ingestion/streaming, producers/consumers, pipelines, and batching concepts.
• Deep proficiency with PostgreSQL including schema modeling and query optimization.
• Working knowledge of Redis.
• Experience working in production environments using AWS and Kubernetes.
• Practical experience with observability tools for logs, metrics, and tracing to monitor and debug production systems.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with security domains such as application security, runtime protection, and vulnerability management.
• Prior work in data-intensive security platforms or similar high-scale systems.
• Experience or interest in AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) and automated AI-supported workflows including AI-assisted code review.

Backend Pipelines & Data Processing:

• Build and maintain backend pipelines that consume data from Kafka, apply business logic/ETL, and produce reliable outputs at scale.
• Implement and optimize event-driven architectures including producers/consumers, streaming patterns, and batching.
• Design systems for high volume and throughput with autoscaling, high availability, and resilience.

Database & Performance (Postgres-heavy):

• Own data modeling and performance tasks in PostgreSQL including query tuning, indexing strategies, schema design, and troubleshooting slow queries.
• Work with additional data stores such as Redis as needed.

Full-Stack Contribution (light frontend):

• Occasionally contribute to frontend needs including new pages and small UI fixes in React.

Production Engineering:

• Build and operate services in production environments with observability through logs, metrics, and tracing.
• Perform debugging, reliability improvements, performance profiling, and bottleneck analysis.
