Lead AI Software Engineer

CoverTree is an insurtech MGA focused on revolutionising specialty personal lines for manufactured homes in the US market. The company is expanding into adjacent specialty markets and adopting GenAI/LLM technologies for competitive advantage in insurance.

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack web development, especially with TypeScript, React, and Node.js
• Background in web and/or mobile development with a curiosity to learn new technologies
• Experience building distributed, high-scale systems handling millions of visitors
• Ability to take ownership and use AI-coding tools effectively
• Capability to work in a "Forward Deployed" manner, understanding product context, processes and implementing features safely
• Ability to mentor and help less experienced team members
• Hands-on experience in cloud technologies, preferably with AWS
• Good communication skills in English and Polish
• Experience with AWS CDK, GraphQL, microservices, event-driven architecture, and testing tools like Playwright, Jest, and Vitest

Nice to have:

• Experience with AI tools such as Kiro, Claude Code, Codex, and Github Copilot
• Familiarity with tools like Figma, Git, Jira, and Confluence

• Collaborate with the engineering manager, engineering team, and product team to understand and implement requirements and technical specifications
• Identify opportunities for architecture improvements and system optimisation and help deliver them
• Architect new systems and design APIs focusing on testability and maintainability
• Drive high engineering standards through code review, automated testing, and mentoring
• Reinvent legacy industry experiences through novel and scalable product design

Candidate must be able to work partially during US timezone hours (e.g., starting between 9-11 am Polish time).
