Software Backend Engineer III

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Scala, or PHP.
• Familiarity with Node.js is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services.
• Skilled in designing and developing APIs.
• Proven ability to design, build, and deploy high-quality software.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and object-oriented programming.
• Passionate about adopting new technologies and applying them to existing products.
• Demonstrates ownership mentality and strives for excellence.
• Proficient in English.

• Develop high-quality, scalable, and responsive software using modern technologies.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following industry best practices.
• Collaborate with Designers, Product Managers, and global teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve quality.
• Troubleshoot and debug software defects to ensure smooth functionality.
• Work effectively in an Agile environment with sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to and triage issues.

Core Data team responsibilities:

• Provide highly available, consistent services for near-realtime access to user data graphs.
• Develop and scale near-realtime data access interfaces and scalable data warehouses.
• Collaborate with client teams to enhance service interfaces and ensure SLOs for availability, performance, and reliability.

Identity & Security Foundation (ISF) team responsibilities:

• Build and operate authentication, identity, and secure access infrastructure including Login, Authorization, MFA, SSO, OAuth, Device Trust.
• Develop security-sensitive, highly available services used across Box applications.

Evaluation Platform team responsibilities:

• Build infrastructure to test and evaluate AI agents.
• Work spans backend services, automation, infrastructure, and developer tooling using Python, Java, React, Jenkins, and shell scripting.

This position requires working from the assigned office in Warsaw a minimum of 3 days per week, focusing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
