Software Engineer III, Device Security

• 5+ years of backend development experience including leading technical initiatives.
• Proficient in writing clean, maintainable code in Java.
• Platform-oriented thinker focused on extensibility and maintainability.
• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems with high uptime and security.
• Comfortable mentoring engineers and cross-team collaboration.
• Skilled in building scalable solutions in mature systems.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with mature, mission-critical systems.
• Knowledge in enterprise security, authentication, identity, or access control.
• Experience with Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with PHP, TypeScript, and React.
• Experience with on-call coverage.

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise software enforcing trusted device access across Web, Mobile, and Desktop platforms.
• Lead development of components in authentication and secure access ensuring resilience, performance, and security.
• Own key services end-to-end from architecture to deployment, ensuring high availability and performance with observability and alerting.
• Drive architectural discussions to evolve Box's security infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and security teams on secure device management and access control initiatives.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to and triage issues.
