Junior Big Data Engineer (Java / Python)

Grupa Allegro Sp. z o. o. operates in building production data-platform services and pipelines for enterprise-scale data processing. The team manages products such as event ingestion into BigQuery, data governance processes, and metadata capabilities at Allegro.

• Commercial experience in Python, Java, or Kotlin.
• Basic ability to write clean, tested code and eagerness to learn modern software engineering practices.
• Solid fundamentals in SQL.
• Basic understanding of data modeling, relational databases, APIs, and common data formats (e.g., JSON, CSV, Avro, Parquet).
• Interest in cloud platforms, distributed systems, and data processing at scale.
• Ability to diagnose problems systematically, ask pertinent questions, and learn from feedback.
• English language proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Nice to have:

• Experience with data pipelines, backend services, cloud platforms, or SQL data warehouses.
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD, Linux, or cloud infrastructure fundamentals.
• Exposure to dbt, Airflow, Apache Beam, Spark, Kafka, or streaming systems.

• Develop, test, and maintain parts of production data pipelines, services, and internal tooling with team support.
• Learn to work with BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Airflow), GCS, and other Google Cloud Platform services.
• Implement data ingestion, validation, data-quality checks, monitoring, alerts, and operational automation.
• Work with structured, semi-structured, and event data using formats such as Avro, Protobuf, Parquet, JSON, and CSV.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, incident follow-ups, and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and product stakeholders to understand data product usage.
