Middle DevOps Engineer (AWS)

The client associated with this role is a leading provider of vehicle lifecycle solutions headquartered in Chicago, delivering advanced mobile, artificial intelligence, and car technologies. Their platform connects a network of over 350 insurance companies, 24,000 repair facilities, parts suppliers, and numerous data and service providers to enhance productivity and customer experiences.

• Proven experience in DevOps, Platform, or Cloud engineering
• Deep production experience with AWS services: Lambda, ECS, CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, ALB/NLB, WAF
• Experience managing multi-account, multi-environment state with Terraform and Terragrunt
• Proficient in reading, writing, and debugging CloudFormation stacks and nested templates
• Skilled in building and diagnosing GitHub Actions workflows
• Proficiency in Python and Node.js scripting and tooling
• Experience with Jinja templating for config generation and dynamic template rendering
• Expertise in Docker: building optimized images, publishing packages, multi-stage Dockerfiles
• Security mindset including IAM least-privilege, WAF configuration, and secrets management (SSM/Secrets Manager)

Nice to have:

• Experience with Datadog APM, log management, custom monitors, dashboards, and infrastructure alerting
• Knowledge of MongoDB Atlas cluster management and Terraform provider
• Familiarity with Azure networking, compute, or identity
• Experience with serverless frameworks (AWS SAM, Serverless Framework, or CDK)
• AWS cost optimization experience

• Design, deploy, and maintain AWS serverless infrastructure including Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, CloudFront, S3, and load balancers
• Write and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Terragrunt, and CloudFormation across multiple environments
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions from container builds to multi-stage deployments
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures, deployment issues, and release blockers across environments
• Create and maintain Docker images and Python packages focusing on security, reproducibility, and minimal footprint
• Manage WAF rules, security group policies, and IAM posture across AWS accounts
• Monitor production workloads with Datadog including dashboards, APM, log pipelines, and alerting
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and application issues across the full stack
• Identify risks, misconfigurations, and performance bottlenecks proactively
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows, observability, and incident response
• Occasionally support Azure workloads and cross-cloud integration
