Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway

Moniepoint Inc. is Africa’s all-in-one financial platform, helping 20 million businesses and individuals access seamless payments, banking, credit, cross-border, and business management tools. As Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer, it processes over $250 billion in digital payment transactions annually. Poland is a new strategic location for Moniepoint's engineering team, focusing on senior engineering hires.

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
• 5+ years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code.
• At least 5 years managing managers leading engineering organizations.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or financial services with understanding of payment flows and compliance.
• Deep knowledge of API-first products, developer platforms, and API integration.
• Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams in a scaling organization.
• Strong backend engineering skills in high-throughput, distributed transactional systems.
• Experience building or operating payment gateway or multi-currency payment platforms is a strong plus.

• Own the full technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Monnify platform.
• Lead multiple engineering teams through engineering managers, setting quality standards and building organizational capability.
• Own the developer experience including APIs, documentation, SDKs, and ease of integration.
• Drive platform evolution towards multi-currency and international scalability.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and security within a regulated environment.
• Partner with product, commercial, and operations teams to align technical investments with business goals.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers to support growth.
