Principal Commercial Data Architect

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, or solution architecture.
• Proven experience designing data backbones supporting multi-application ecosystems (e.g., Salesforce, Veeva, SAP, ServiceNow).
• Expert proficiency in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling (relational, dimensional, document, graph).
• In-depth commercial domain knowledge across Marketing, Sales, Customer Support/Service, and Commercial Operations.
• Experience with Master Data Management (HCP/HCO/Account structures) is highly preferred.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure Data Lake), API/event-driven architectures (Kafka, AMQP/MQTT, REST/GraphQL), and modern data tooling (DBT, SQL).
• Ability to establish semantic content for AI and agentic systems with precise entity and metric definitions.
• Outstanding communication skills to articulate complex architecture to non-technical stakeholders and negotiate technical roadmaps.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with PACE Layering / RDT architectural focus and Roche standard architectural artifacts and terminology (e.g., Architecture Decision Records, Fitness Functions).

• Drive the Target Data Architecture by architecting and evolving a scalable commercial data foundation.
• Define Domain Models & Standards using Domain-Driven Design to create clear bounded contexts.
• Establish Integration Pathways through real-time and event-driven data streaming and API contracts.
• Establish Semantic Authority for AI-Driven Commercial Analytics ensuring agreed definitions for AI consumption.
• Align with Enterprise AI Guardrails enforcing controls for data provenance, protection, and auditability.
• Manage Architecture Governance & Decision Making via ADR governance and Governance Decision Records.
• Manage Technical Debt & Modernization by consolidating legacy data silos and optimizing data patterns.
• Collaborate & Influence by partnering with Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Data Engineers, and Business Leaders.
