Network Engineer

• Technical education in computer science, telecommunications, IT, or related fields.
• Highly desirable CCNA certificate or equivalent knowledge level.
• Strong knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP stack, and basic routing/switching protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, VLAN).
• Solid knowledge of Cisco VPN technologies, including IPsec, DMVPN, GET VPN, SSL VPN, and FlexVPN.
• Basic programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, and familiarity with Linux.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Good self-organization and independence.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Availability for occasional training trips (mainly in Norway).
• Willingness and availability to carry out technical and service projects on ships as needed.
• Experience configuring Cisco devices (routers, switches).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and proactive approach to technical knowledge and competence development.
• High personal culture and positive interpersonal attitude.
• Fluent English, spoken and written.
• Driving license category B.

Nice to have:

• Valid CCNA or higher certificate, or equivalent practical skills in routing and switching.
• Experience with Fortinet ecosystem (firewalls, VPN).
• Experience with virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V) or working with containers (Docker).
• Experience using RESTful API interfaces for interaction and automation of network devices.

• Configure and support network devices and maintain technical knowledge of security products and systems, including Cisco and Fortinet solutions.
• Participate in implementation projects and independently lead technical work related to the development of network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN).
• Implement new network solutions compliant with cybersecurity standards.
• Update firmware of network devices.
• Implement and optimize existing network configurations to improve performance.
• Participate in network automation initiatives using Python and REST API interfaces.
• Create and maintain detailed network documentation and topology diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to solve complex technical issues and share knowledge.
• Analyze captured packets using tools like Wireshark and tcpdump, and review system logs.
• Independently resolve network problems and act as a technical escalation point for complex issues depending on experience.
