Senior Java Engineer (Trading Systems)

VISTULO offers a fully remote senior backend engineering role focused on building high-performance trading systems for a top North American bank. The work involves ultra-low-latency architectures and real-time market data in the financial domain, specifically equities, options, and FX trading systems. The team includes original system engineers and collaborates across North America and Europe.

• Current Java programming experience with a strong understanding of algorithms, complexity, multi-threading, and Java language capabilities including standard libraries.
• Good knowledge of data structures, including the Java collections framework.
• Proven experience building backend services for front-office trading systems.
• Deep understanding of front-office workflows and electronic trading platforms for any asset class.
• Experience with algorithmic order management systems or order routing systems.
• Expertise in multi-threading, event-driven systems, and performance tuning.
• Ability to design maintainable and high-quality solutions for complex workflows.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in trader-facing environments.
• Knowledge of building low-latency trading systems measured in microseconds.
• Ability to align work with a 6-hour overlap of US Eastern business hours.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to time-series databases and market data integration.
• Familiarity with algorithmic workflows and pricing engines.
• A computer science degree from a top Polish school.

• Design and implement robust software solutions for equities and FX trading systems using core Java.
• Build high-performance backend services that algorithmically manage and route orders.
• Create thorough test cases to ensure software stability and reliability.
• Collaborate with operations teams to build new features and improve existing functionality.

This fully remote role is only available to residents of Poland, including Polish citizens and legal residents with permission to work in Poland. Successful candidates will need to pass a standard background check.
