Senior Backend Engineer – Subscription & Account

The Accounts & Subscription teams at Text own billing and authorization services, including text-billing (subscriptions, usage-based pricing, payment provider integrations) and SSO with account management, including the OAuth implementation that is central to client authentication across Text products. Current projects involve integration with Google Payments, a flexible role and permissions system (ACAM), and migrating customers from the legacy platform to TextApp.

• Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0 at the protocol level — flows, token types, authorization models; experience implementing OAuth is a strong advantage.
• Strong Go experience in production; ability to switch to Go if coming from other languages.
• Solid MySQL experience.
• Familiarity with GCP and Kubernetes.
• Proven track record of owning backend projects end-to-end including design, cross-team coordination, and delivery.
• Experience with billing, subscriptions, or payment systems is nice to have.
• Experience with ClickHouse or similar columnar databases is nice to have.

• Own the SSO service and OAuth implementation — lead technical decisions, propose improvements, communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Work on text-billing: subscriptions, usage-based pricing, payment provider integrations.
• Drive projects end-to-end: take business requirements, design the solution, coordinate dependent teams, set milestones, ship it.
• Proactively maintain your services — flag issues before they become incidents, propose fixes before they become blockers.
• Contribute to ongoing cross-company work: client migration to TextApp, ACAM role management improvements.
