Principal Scala Developer

• Significant commercial experience in Scala backend development at a Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer level
• Strong background in performance tuning, scalability, and optimization of large-scale systems
• Proven ability to anticipate, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges
• Hands-on experience designing and developing high-quality backend applications
• Practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve software delivery productivity, quality, or decision-making
• Ability to make technical decisions and drive engineering excellence
• Curiosity and a proactive problem-solving approach
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Good command of English (minimum B2)

Nice to have:

• Experience applying Generative AI within the SDLC with defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations
• Interest and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices such as agent-based workflows and AI-augmented development

• Designing, developing, and enhancing scalable backend services using Scala
• Leading performance optimization initiatives across large-scale applications and services
• Proactively investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues impacting system performance and user experience
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement effective technical solutions
• Driving engineering best practices and contributing to continuous platform improvement
• Supporting the onboarding and mentoring of other engineers by sharing technical knowledge and best practices

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.
