Software Asset Management Expert

• 3+ years of experience in IT Asset Management or Software Asset Management, including audit experience.
• Understanding of Software Asset Management processes, audit and information security, and risk management principles.
• Understanding of business area strategic goals, processes, and workflows.
• Ability to make appropriate technical decisions and resolve operational issues.
• Experience with SAM and discovery tools such as ServiceNow, Flexera, or Snow License Manager.

Preferred:

• SAM or ITAM certifications (e.g., CSAM, CITAM) and/or Audit or Information Security certifications (e.g., M.Inst.ISP, CISM, CISSP, CISA).
• Knowledge of licensing models, terms, and conditions for vendors like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, SAP, and Adobe.
• Understanding of service management and process improvement methodologies.
• Experience in stakeholder management, communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.

• Own Effective License Positions (ELPs) ensuring alignment of software usage and entitlements to minimize compliance, audit, and financial risk.
• Govern the end-to-end software asset lifecycle including demand, deployment, usage monitoring, reallocation, and decommissioning.
• Lead audit readiness and vendor audit responses, driving remediation of compliance gaps and control weaknesses.
• Provide expert guidance on licensing terms, entitlements, contracts, and renewals.
• Maintain and improve SAM processes, controls, procedures, and KRIs to enhance governance and operational performance.
• Collaborate with business and Digital & Technology teams to address non-compliant software usage and mitigate licensing risks.
• Support optimization of SAM/ITAM tools and contribute to automation to improve data quality and efficiency.
• Analyze software and entitlement data to produce reporting, identify optimization opportunities, and support cost rationalization.
