Data Scientist - Applied AI

Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is a global community of business-minded technologists focused on shaping the future of digital healthcare. Their Partnering Digital Solutions team works on maximizing partnership impact through digital and AI-enabled ecosystems in the Pharma and DIA Partnering business, building scalable data infrastructure and advanced data engineering practices to accelerate decision-making and unlock business value.

• Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, applied AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics solution development.
• Strong experience designing, developing, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models for business applications.
• Proficiency in Python and machine learning/data science frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas, and NumPy.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and analysis of large datasets.
• Experience building predictive, classification, recommendation, forecasting, or decision-support models.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with cloud-native AI and analytics platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing applied AI/machine learning solutions supporting operational/business workflows.
• Experience with LLMs, NLP techniques, vector databases, AI-enabled workflow solutions.
• Familiarity with agentic AI workflows, orchestration frameworks, intelligent automation.
• Experience operationalizing ML/AI models in production.
• Knowledge of MLOps or LLMOps concepts including deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with cloud-native AI platforms like AWS SageMaker.
• Experience with dashboarding and visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Ability to work in ambiguous environments and translate evolving business needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Experience supporting product-centric or Agile delivery environments.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, partnering, or business development is a plus.
• Strong storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills.

Machine Learning & Applied AI Solutions:

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and AI-enabled solutions supporting partnering activities such as opportunity prioritization and portfolio intelligence.
• Apply advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, and emerging AI techniques to solve complex business problems.

Model Development & Experimentation:

• Lead exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model selection, training, validation, and performance evaluation.
• Design and evaluate multiple modeling approaches and optimize models for scalability and business impact.

Business Problem Solving & Decision Support:

• Partner with business stakeholders to translate challenges into analytical and machine learning solutions.
• Support data-driven prioritization and strategic decision making.

AI & Intelligence Enablement:

• Collaborate with AI, data, and engineering teams to operationalize AI capabilities across partnering platforms.
• Evaluate and apply modern AI techniques including NLP and LLM-enabled workflows.

Data & Intelligence Development:

• Design analytics solutions, dashboards, KPIs, and intelligence capabilities to improve partnering operations visibility.
• Support development of operational intelligence for proactive business decisions.

AI Operationalization & MLOps:

• Collaborate to support machine learning and AI solution deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management per enterprise standards.

Data Storytelling & Communication:

• Communicate analytical findings and AI insights through visualizations and presentations.
• Translate complex machine learning concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

• Work in cross-functional Agile teams to improve AI capabilities and analytics solutions continuously.
• Contribute to AI practices, engineering standards, and experimentation frameworks across the organization.
