Cybersecurity Software Engineer

The role is based within the Network Security Product area, dedicated to secure connectivity through advanced security platforms and automated orchestration. Roche is a large healthcare company with over 100,000 employees globally, advancing science and healthcare.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years experience in development frameworks, software engineering, or automation engineering within complex infrastructure environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Python for scalable automation.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
• Practical knowledge of GitLab and GitHub, including project launch, versioning policies, runner configuration, and migration between platforms.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, security protocols, and cybersecurity principles.
• Practical experience with JavaScript, Groovy, cloud platforms, containers, and frontend configuration.
• Strong software troubleshooting, code reviewing, and architectural decision-making skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English to work with virtual global engineering teams.
• Ability to function independently and establish technical standards in an ambiguous architectural environment.

Architecture & Design Baseline:

• Build, design, adapt, and standardize internal security development frameworks and engineering practices.
• Establish consistent coding guidelines and architectural baselines across the product area.

Structural Engineering & Guardrails:

• Provide software design insights and define secure control guardrails.
• Create code abstraction layers to streamline deployment of network controls.

Product Lifecycle & Custom Automation:

• Develop code for infrastructure service improvements through scripts, modular automation, and custom APIs.

CI/CD Integration:

• Guide technical implementations through the software engineering lifecycle.
• Deploy tested and scalable security features using CI/CD.

Operational Excellence & Code Quality:

• Standardize development workflows including version control, testing, and peer reviews.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and platform teams to improve reliability and maintenance of network infrastructure code.

Continuous Improvement of Capabilities:

• Support delivery, design, and maintenance of technologies protecting Roche networks (including Internet Security Stack, DDoS Protection, VPN, Network Access Control, Deep Packet Inspection).

The role requires working in Poland with a hybrid work model requiring presence in offices on average two days per week.
