Senior Java Developer

Charles River Development (CRD) is the FinTech division of State Street. Charles River’s cloud-based Front Office technology forms the foundation of the State Street Alpha Platform, the first front-to-back solution in the industry. CRD Engineering is innovating and transforming the platform by moving away from monolithic software to utilizing next generation cloud-based technology that leverages Microsoft Azure, Kafka, Snowflake, among others.

• B.S. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field; MS degree strongly preferred
• At least 5 years experience with full lifecycle project development for Java applications in a similar industry
• Strong skills in core Java, server-side Java technologies, and Spring frameworks using Agile methodologies and SQL databases
• Experience with backend technologies such as Kafka and Microservices

Nice to have:

• Experience or understanding of Kubernetes and cloud platforms like Azure
• Experience with object-oriented programming, Relational databases (RDBMS), scripting, and advanced programming languages
• Experience with frontend technologies like React
• Experience in financial services developing solutions for Wealth Management

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and debug large and complex software enhancements and solutions within Charles River’s business and technical problem domains including modifications to core frameworks and critical system components
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple and sustainable software solutions
• Direct problem solving for projects or major phases to resolve technical software issues
• Develop, test, debug, and implement software programs using Java and learn other required languages
• Provide informed guidance and critical analysis during code reviews
• Provide troubleshooting on large, mission critical client implementations
• Engage in agile software development process including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
• Plan and coordinate cross-team activity groups to complete assignments
• Demonstrate independence in design and development
• Mentor and guide Junior Engineers
