Platform SW/FW Engineer, Advanced

Zebra Technologies designs and builds intelligent, edge-based smart cameras featuring on-board Neural Processing Units (NPUs) that run hardware-accelerated image processing and vision algorithms.

• Mastery of Linux internals: kernel, bootloaders, system-level management, custom systemd service orchestration, and resource optimization.
• Extensive experience designing high-performance, concurrent, modular systems using modern C++.
• Proven ability to solve complex multi-layered system and hardware integration challenges under tight performance constraints.
• Self-driven with a passion for setting new engineering standards and mentoring senior team members.

Nice to have:

• Experience architecting pipelines for NPUs, GPUs, or DSPs, especially in image processing or computer vision at the edge.
• Deep expertise with the Yocto Project build system including writing complex recipes and customizing distributions.
• Strong Electrical Engineering background capable of contributing to hardware design reviews and deep hardware-level debugging.

• Set architectural vision for Linux-based smart camera platforms and design secure platform management services in modern C++.
• Lead platform bring-up initiatives including custom Yocto layers and BSP architectures.
• Architect infrastructure integrating on-board NPUs for real-time, hardware-accelerated image and video processing.
• Pioneer adoption of agentic AI coding methodologies to enhance team output and code quality.
• Investigate hardware/software boundary anomalies using schematics, logic analyzers, debug probes, and oscilloscopes.
