Principal Frontend Developer

We are a software Consultancy providing highly skilled consultants to support client business needs across private and public sectors such as financial services, government, healthcare, property, education, oil & gas, broadcasting, gaming and renewable energy. The company has multiple offices in the UK, Poland, and Canada.

• 8+ years of experience in frontend software engineering with leadership experience at Senior Consultant level or equivalent
• Proven technical leadership on complex, client-facing engagements
• Experience mentoring or managing engineers
• Prior consultancy or agency experience preferred
• Deep expertise in modern frontend development including component architecture, state management, and build tooling
• Strong knowledge of accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), web performance (Core Web Vitals), and testing (unit, integration, E2E)
• Ability to make high-quality architectural decisions and communicate trade-offs clearly
• Proven ability to lead Communities of Practice and shape engineering culture
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with engineers and senior client decision-makers
• Collaborative working style across disciplines including Delivery, UCD, QA, and DevOps
• Willingness to attend the Poland office as needed

Technical Strategy & Standards:

• Define and own frontend engineering standards including architecture patterns, testing philosophy, accessibility compliance, and performance benchmarks
• Contribute to broader engineering strategy with Heads of Practice and other Principals
• Establish standards for Core Web Vitals, WCAG compliance, and developer experience and embed them into delivery processes
• Lead complex architectural challenges and critical delivery moments by example

People Leadership & Development:

• Line manage engineers up to Senior level, support growth and contribute to performance reviews
• Mentor engineers across the practice to develop Senior and Principal-level talent
• Define and maintain hiring standards and lead the interview process
• Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high standards

Community of Practice Leadership:

• Lead the Frontend Engineering Community of Practice, set agenda and drive value
• Champion best practices in frontend development including component architecture, testing, accessibility, performance, and tooling
• Collaborate with Principal Consultants across Delivery, UCD, QA, and DevOps for strategic alignment and improvements
• Drive internal initiatives to improve working practices

Client Engagement & Delivery:

• Act as trusted technical advisor to senior client stakeholders
• Lead or contribute to technical proposals, architecture sessions, and pre-sales conversations
• Take on Tech Lead or Senior Developer responsibilities within client engagements
• Manage complex client situations including escalations and high-pressure delivery
• Support retention and growth of client accounts through technical leadership and relationships
