Senior PHP Engineer (Drupal)

The role is for a senior PHP Drupal engineer working for a client operating in Europe. The position involves full accountability for architecture, performance, security, and deployments of a high-impact production site driving critical SEO traffic. The engineer will work autonomously as part of the technical SEO team, bridging custom Drupal backend engineering.

• 6+ years of production software development experience
• Hands-on experience in Drupal 10 custom module development
• Strong mastery of PHP 8.x, Symfony framework, and Twig
• Solid understanding of technical SEO principles (URL structure, redirects, page speed performance, structured data)
• Autonomous, proactive mindset with high comfort navigating ambiguity and taking end-to-end ownership
• Foundational familiarity with TypeScript, JavaScript
• Computer Science degree
• Experience working with Agile methodologies such as SCRUM and/or Kanban
• Proficiency in English

Nice to have:

• Experience or interest in headless CMS architecture
• Familiarity with Platform.sh or advanced Drupal site theming
• Knowledge of cloud computing AWS / GCP / Azure
• Exposure to one of the object-oriented and/or functional languages such as Java, Python, Elixir, C++, C#, Golang, Erlang, Kotlin

• Developing custom Drupal 10 modules using PHP 8.x, Symfony components, and Twig templating
• Driving technical SEO implementation, including URL structure, redirects, Core Web Vitals/page speed optimization, and structured data
• Performing deployments of the applications
• Monitoring system health and site performance using Datadog, ensuring high availability and stability
• Executing regular security patches, Drupal updates, and core upgrades
• Supporting the editorial team with CMS workflows and contributing to headless CMS architecture
• Debugging issues
• Scoping and assessing the complexity of features
• Participation in on-call rotation
