Engineering Manager II

• People-first engineering leader with 2+ years of engineering management experience and strong technical background
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
• Comfortable with backend and frontend concepts (full-stack awareness)
• Strong technical judgment for system design decisions and trade-offs
• Experience in data-driven environments using metrics like velocity and delivery performance
• Skilled at building and growing teams including support for senior and junior engineers
• Effective communication valuing transparency and proactive risk management
• Experience managing stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional, distributed teams including US-based partners
• Comfortable working in dynamic, evolving environments with dependencies across teams

Nice to have:

• Experience in SaaS or product-driven companies
• Exposure to AI/ML-powered systems or data processing platforms
• Experience working with distributed, international teams

• Build, lead, and grow an engineering team of 5–7 engineers in Wrocław
• Define the team’s roadmap, execution strategy, and own delivery outcomes
• Ensure strong delivery predictability through planning, estimation, and execution
• Partner with engineers on system design and technical decisions (non-coding role)
• Develop team members via 1:1s, coaching, performance management, and hiring
• Establish a strong, collaborative, and accountable team culture
• Drive high standards in execution, quality, and scalability
• Organize team processes including stand-ups, sprint planning, and technical discussions
• Collaborate with product and partner teams to scope initiatives and align on priorities
• Manage cross-team dependencies and coordinate with stakeholders across regions
• Proactively identify risks and ensure transparency in delivery
• Represent Box internally and externally
