Senior Data Engineer

ALTEN Polska is a European leader in engineering and IT consulting. The role supports a strategic international initiative migrating data platforms from on-premise (Cloudera) to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Minimum 5-6 years experience in Data Engineering, Big Data, or data platforms, including cloud projects.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, especially Dataproc (including Spark and Hadoop Ecosystem), Dataflow (Apache Beam), BigQuery (design, performance and cost optimization), and Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow).
• Experience migrating from on-premise to cloud.
• Preferably experience with Cloudera or other Hadoop solutions.
• Strong Python skills for ETL, automation, and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of Java, especially in context of Spark, Apache Beam, batch and streaming data processing.
• Experience designing and deploying complex data pipelines in production.
• Ability to design data architecture in GCP considering scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Practical experience with tools such as Airflow, Git, Terraform, or related.
• Very good English proficiency (minimum B2+/C1).
• Understanding of Data Governance, data security, and access management in cloud environments.

• Participate in migration of data platform from Cloudera/on-premise to Google Cloud Platform.
• Design, develop, and optimize data solutions based on GCP services.
• Create and maintain efficient batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Work with GCP services such as Dataproc, Dataflow, BigQuery, and Cloud Composer.
• Analyze legacy solutions and recommend target cloud architecture.
• Collaborate with business teams, architects, and technology partners internationally.
• Ensure scalability, security, and cost optimization of data solutions.
• Support automation, orchestration, and CI/CD processes.
• Participate in technical workshops, prepare documentation, and make key architectural decisions.
