Engineering Operations Specialist - Consumer

Payward is the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks, building a globally accessible financial infrastructure platform to advance an open financial system. Kraken, founded in 2011, is a long-standing crypto platform trusted by over 10 million users worldwide offering spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services for individual and institutional clients. The Engineering Operations team supports the Consumer group by building automations, tracking, and metrics to improve engineering productivity and reduce manual work.

• 3+ years experience in operations, process, or tooling roles with at least one significant shipped project
• Hands-on Jira administration covering boards, workflows, schemas, permissions, and custom fields
• Practical, deliberate use of AI in daily work with understanding of appropriate application
• Systematic thinking to identify process connections and downstream impacts
• Ability to scope and prioritize requests from senior stakeholders, including rejecting unsuitable ones
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Genuine interest in operations, internal tooling, and developer experience
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and frameworks
• Exposure to engineering metrics, developer productivity data, or DORA metrics

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with crypto platforms such as Kraken and understanding of the crypto space
• Experience building Jira automation rules or Rovo agents
• Knowledge of SQL and/or experience with TypeScript and scripting languages
• Experience building Slack workflows or integrations
• Familiarity with Slack, Jira, or GitLab APIs
• Exposure to localisation, QA, or compliance processes
• Experience working in remote or distributed teams

• Help engineering teams execute faster by owning processes and tooling that remove friction
• Use AI and automation daily to solve real problems for supported teams
• Administer Jira and Confluence including configuration, workflows, permissions, and automations
• Own the triage and intake process to ensure proper routing and standards compliance
• Maintain healthy roadmaps and run weekly delivery reporting to leadership
• Ensure quality of engineering metrics data, including team definitions, ownership records, and tool configuration
