Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator in production.
• Strong Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Always-On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
• Proficient in T-SQL and performance tuning.
• Mandatory strong Azure experience including services like Azure SQL, Azure Monitor, Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, and Azure Event Hub.
• Hands-on experience with PowerShell automation.
• Strong incident management and production support skills.
• Good understanding of database security, permissions, and operational best practices.
• Ability to work autonomously in complex production environments.
• Professional English language skills at C1 level.
• Valid work permit or EU/Schengen nationality to work legally in Portugal.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with PostgreSQL or other database technologies.
• Experience with UrbanCode Deploy, Jira, or DBeaver.
• Azure Database Administrator or Microsoft SQL Server certifications.
• Experience in regulated environments, especially financial services.
• Knowledge of Git or other DevOps practices.

• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server databases in production integrated with Azure.
• Manage high-availability solutions including Always-On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex SQL Server incidents including root cause analysis and remediation.
• Perform query tuning, T-SQL optimisation, and execution plan analysis.
• Manage Azure SQL, Azure Monitor, Azure Pipelines, Azure Event Hub, and related cloud services.
• Automate database operations using PowerShell.
• Execute and validate production releases using Azure DevOps and UrbanCode Deploy.
• Manage database security, permissions, and audit-quality documentation.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and release management teams.
• Contribute to runbooks and continuous improvement of database operations.

Candidates must be based in Portugal with a valid work permit or EU/Schengen nationality to work legally in Portugal.
