Senior Software Engineer - Backend (Contact Team)

Tesco Technology is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Contact team, part of the Customers API platform that manages core customer data and personalized communication across Tesco. The platform features cloud-native microservice architecture on Azure with event-driven processing using Azure Service Bus and data storage in PostgreSQL. The team is evolving its architecture by migrating from Azure App Services to Kubernetes to enhance scalability and resilience. The role is based in Kraków with a hybrid work schedule.

• Around 6+ years of experience delivering software using Java
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
• Good English communication skills
• Experience with Azure, AWS or other cloud solutions
• Experience with Terraform
• Experience in system design
• Experience taking ownership of projects and leading teams from a technical or project perspective
• Proactive attitude

• Develop high-quality software solutions with proficiency in Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot
• Work with Microsoft Azure and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, or be willing to learn these technologies
• Implement and advocate CI/CD best practices for seamless software delivery
• Maintain high-quality documentation supporting development processes and system design
• Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and efficient
• Take ownership of systems, driving reliability, maintainability, and performance
• Mentor and support fellow engineers, fostering growth and collaboration
• Automate workflows and build tools/scripts to enhance efficiency

This role requires candidates to be based in or near Kraków, spending 60% of the week onsite (3 days) and 40% remote (2 days).
