Senior Software Engineer Java & Kotlin (PST Overlap)

Our client is one of the largest game studios known for their very successful MOBA and FPS franchises. The role is within the Content Access Platform team, responsible for a high-throughput transaction engine that enables millions of gamers to buy and trade in-game items. The team includes experienced engineers from Poland collaborating with EU and US West Coast teams.

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Strong knowledge of modern Java (17+)
• Experience building services with SpringBoot or similar frameworks
• Experience designing REST APIs
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate or SQL-first data modeling (e.g., JOOQ)
• Familiarity with testing frameworks like JUnit and agile methodologies
• Ability to design clean, maintainable backend architectures
• Solid relational database fundamentals
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with Kotlin
• Experience with event-driven systems (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka)
• Experience with Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes for cloud infrastructure
• Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Github Actions
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools, preferably Datadog

• Design, code, test Java/Kotlin applications based on SpringBoot version 3
• Prepare design documentation and implementation strategies; choose appropriate libraries
• Collaborate within a pod of up to 5 engineers and other cross-functional teams
• Create and manage well documented RESTful APIs in SpringBoot
• Write and execute unit, integration, end-to-end, and load tests; participate in code reviews
• Maintain build toolkits using Gradle
• Create, modify, and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Docker and Github Actions
• Design database schemas, write MySQL queries, and manage data integrity
• Occasionally deploy infrastructure using Terraform and internal tools
• Monitor system telemetry and set up alerting using Datadog
