Staff Software Engineer, UI Platform

Redpanda is the first runtime and control plane for agent-data interaction — a unified platform that combines streaming, SQL analytics, and intelligent connectivity with the governance layer enterprise AI agents need in production. Built on infrastructure entrusted by Fortune 500 companies and startups, Redpanda enforces governance entirely outside the agent's data path, controlling data access and maintaining tamper-proof records.

• Significant experience building and operating production-grade customer-facing web applications at scale with React and TypeScript, including ownership of shared platforms or design systems
• Production experience with microfrontend architecture and Module Federation or equivalents like single-spa, including managing version skew, shared dependencies, runtime failures, and independent deployments
• Proven track record leading large technical projects end-to-end
• Experience setting architectural guidelines and driving adoption across multiple teams
• Strong knowledge of modern frontend fundamentals: component architecture, state management, data fetching, performance, and accessibility
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows, including tools like Claude Code
• Fluent in frontend testing methodologies from unit to end-to-end, with clear insights on CI, pre-production, and production monitoring
• Strong design sensibility to maintain quality without a designer present
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for distributed asynchronous environments
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, design, and customer-facing stakeholders

Nice to Have:

• Experience modernising and rearchitecting frontend systems
• Understanding of combining human and LLM collaboration for consistency and quality in design and code
• Familiarity with monorepo tooling (Nx, Turborepo, pnpm), bundler internals (Vite, Rspack, Webpack), and design-system-to-code pipelines (Figma tokens, codegen, visual regression)
• Basic knowledge of Go for API design collaboration
• Experience with protobuf, ConnectRPC, gRPC-web, or react-query
• Experience managing feature flags (e.g., LaunchDarkly)
• Experience with frontend delivery platforms like Netlify and synthetic monitoring
• User experience with streaming platforms like Redpanda or Apache Kafka
• Prior work in early-stage or growth-stage startups

• Own the Redpanda UI platform end to end: host shell, remote module contracts, versioning and compatibility, shared dependencies, routing, auth, and runtime failure behavior
• Set the architecture and migration path for independently deployable microfrontends and coordinate with product teams across time zones
• Define graceful degradation and fallback patterns for UI availability and compatibility
• Increase release confidence with uniform end-to-end and certification tests
• Establish and enforce frontend standards through RFCs, design reviews, and code reviews
• Contribute to and evolve the design system and component library for composability across deployments
• Represent frontend in cross-team architecture discussions to align API and information architecture with UI
• Participate in on-call escalation to reduce incidents and improve operational health
• Mentor engineers across UX and product teams to elevate engineering quality
