Software Engineer, Splunk Platform Identity

The Platform Identity team builds a centralized Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform supporting millions of users across Splunk and Cisco products. The team collaborates with product, security, and infrastructure groups to unify identity across the portfolio with a focus on scalability, resilience, and intelligence.

• Strong, recent hands-on experience in C++ and/or Go building secure, scalable, high-throughput production services.
• Experience designing and operating secure, distributed, fault-tolerant systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, token and session lifecycle, and authorization models such as RBAC and ABAC.
• Strong automated-testing, debugging, observability, and production-support skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous C++ experience sufficient to read, understand, and diagnose behavior in Splunkd or authentication-integration code.
• Experience working across Go services and existing C++ components, including integration or incremental modernization.
• Knowledge of OAuth device-code flow, CLI authentication, Okta, service identities, and secure-production-access workflows.
• Experience in performance profiling, complex production debugging, and incident response.
• Familiarity with LDAP, KV Store, SAML migration or deprecation, and identity-platform integration.
• Experience with Go-based sidecars, service runtimes, and host/service integration.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based service operations, E2E test pipelines, and production dashboards.
• Knowledge of secure-access auditing, access windows, session management, or policy enforcement.

• Design, build, and operate core identity services for authentication, authorization, and user lifecycle management.
• Architect scalable and secure APIs.
• Unify identity systems across Splunk and Cisco products.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on modern identity protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship impactful solutions.
• Explore opportunities to use AI/ML to increase automation and improve identity protection.
