C++ Senior Software Engineer, Splunk Search Experience

The Splunk Search Experience backend team is part of Cisco Systems Poland sp. Z o.o., working on the core of the Splunk Platform that powers Cisco Data Fabric, transforming machine data into AI-ready intelligence.

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent.
• Deep expertise in C++, including building high-performance backend systems.
• Strong foundation in distributed systems concepts, system design, debugging, and testing.
• Proven ability to design scalable and reliable system architectures.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and triaging skills.
• Experience delivering complex software projects end-to-end in production.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical direction.
• Experience with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, Azure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with modern monitoring, observability, and performance tuning tools.
• Exposure to full-stack search systems including indexing and query execution pipelines.
• Knowledge of deploying and managing services in Kubernetes clusters.

• Design, develop, and launch features powering Splunk’s core search functionalities.
• Build robust, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems in a multi-threaded/multi-process environment.
• Define and perform search language layer optimizations and transformations.
• Analyze and improve reliability and scalability of search execution pipelines.
• Diagnose and resolve customer incidents, identify process and product gaps, and design enhancements.
• Hire, mentor, and grow junior engineers.
