Senior Software Engineer

Cisco is a global technology company innovating in data and infrastructure, focusing on security, visibility, and insights in the AI era. The position is within the Exposure Analytics team at Splunk, part of Cisco, developing software using Python, React, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, and AWS. The engineering team operates across multiple time zones including Central European, Eastern, Mountain, and Pacific Time.

• Strong proficiency in Python or Go (Python preferred), with solid knowledge of APIs, microservices, data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with data stores and query languages, including Splunk/SPL, Elasticsearch, Redis and SQL.
• Proven experience building and architecting web applications, services and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability, CI/CD and DevOps practices, including monitoring, telemetry, alerting and tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.
• 8 years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree or six years with a technical Master’s degree.
• Hands-on experience working with AI coding assistants like Codex, Claude Code, Cursor etc.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal direction, showing intellectual curiosity, humility, accountability and positivity.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Proficiency in frontend programming languages and frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Hands-on experience with building, testing and deploying production-ready LLM based AI solutions.

• Own and be accountable for the design, development, and operation of new product features.
• Lead team design and architectural discussions.
• Build reliable, scalable, and high-performance applications.
• Debug and resolve customer-reported issues, delivering effective solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and other operational activities to ensure service reliability.
• Learn, explore, and integrate new technologies into the team’s workflow.
• Mentor junior members of the team.
