Software Engineer, License Manager

The License Manager team at Cisco develops core licensing and entitlement capabilities that power Splunk products, focusing on backend and systems development. • Strong, recent hands-on experience with Go building scalable, reliable production services.
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, secure service-to-service communication, and production support.
• Ability to reason about performance aspects including latency, throughput, memory use, concurrency, and failure modes.
• Strong testing, debugging, and production-troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have:

• Previous C++ experience sufficient to read, understand, and diagnose behavior in a performance-sensitive codebase.
• Experience integrating Go services with legacy systems or contributing to gradual modernization from C++ to Go.
• Experience investigating performance or reliability issues in production systems.
• Python experience for test development, tooling, and automation.
• Familiarity with licensing, entitlements, metering, or commercial-platform systems.
• Experience with observability and incident response.

• Build, test, debug, and maintain core License Manager capabilities using Go and C++.
• Deliver features, fixes, and enhancements from design through implementation.
• Write clean, maintainable, and secure code with strong unit and integration test coverage.
• Investigate product and production issues to identify root causes and contribute to durable fixes.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product management, support, and engineering partners to improve system behavior and deliver customer value.
