Software Engineer

The Splunk Metadata Catalog (MDC) team is part of the Splunk Platform, building a Knowledge Graph that helps Splunk users discover data and understand relationships and lineage between Splunk objects. This team is involved in creating a new product central to Cisco Data Fabric vision.

• Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of related experience, or Master’s degree plus 3 years of related experience
• Proven experience in building and delivering new services/features in a fast-paced product environment using cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience developing and debugging in object-oriented languages such as Go, C++, or Java
• Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD and iterative development practices
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, software design, and modern distributed systems
• Strong focus on software quality, reliability, and performance

Nice to have:

• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, AWS Neptune, or Apache AGE, and/or building knowledge graphs for data objects or entities
• Strong communication skills for collaboration across teams
• Ability to adapt to evolving environments and changing priorities
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and take on new challenges

• Contribute to high level design for multiple features in conjunction with senior team members and technical leaders
• Build reliable, scalable, and high-performance applications
• Drive Developer Owned Quality approach to ensure overall product quality
• Debug and resolve customer-reported issues with effective solutions
• Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and operational activities for service reliability
• Learn, explore, and integrate new technologies into the team's workflow
