Principal Data Architect

emagine is looking for a Principal Data Architect for a client in the financial and information services sector operating across four Nordic markets. The client is starting a multi-year transformation consolidating data from Oracle, Db2, and mainframe environments into a governed operational data platform on AWS. The role is the most senior architectural position in the programme, owning the Group information model, domain model, and data architecture.

• Principal-level experience in data architecture, information architecture, or enterprise architecture within a regulated business.
• Experience establishing common information models across multiple markets, business lines, or organizations.
• Practical experience with domain-driven design (bounded contexts, context maps, domain ownership).
• Experience designing and governing large-scale analytical or operational data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with data migration or CDC from operational systems such as Oracle, Db2, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience treating schemas, data contracts, and semantic models as versioned engineering artifacts.
• Solid understanding of GDPR, DORA, and related governance requirements.
• Strong ability to build consensus across business and technology teams.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

• Define the Group information model: common business concepts, entities, relationships, and local variations.
• Own the domain model with bounded contexts, context maps, shared language, and service boundaries based on DDD.
• Introduce anti-corruption layers between new domain contracts and legacy systems.
• Define implementation of model, governance, and data contracts on the operational data platform and contribute to platform decisions.
• Design migration architecture covering patterns, reconciliation, sequencing, and acceptance criteria for gradual transition.
• Design data governance including classification, lineage, ownership, retention, access control, and regulatory requirements.
• Set architecture principles, standards, review processes, and support delivery teams.
