Consumer Safety Science Scientist

• Degree in a biomedical or healthcare-related discipline.
• Foundation in safety science and interest in further developing expertise.
• Knowledge of medical and drug terminology, and understanding of causality assessment and safety evaluation methodologies.
• Foundational knowledge of relevant regulatory environment and product regulations.
• Understanding of relevant therapeutic areas including statistics.
• Ability to communicate scientific and safety information via clear and accurate medical writing.
• Confidence in using computing tools and working with various information sources for safety investigations.
• Ability to assess information, identify approaches, and make decisions in consultation with others.
• Strong relationship-building skills and effective stakeholder collaboration on product safety topics.
• Willingness to collaborate with guidance from senior colleagues where appropriate.

• Monitor safety of assigned products and perform signal detection activities, using tools such as signal management tools, literature reviews, and individual case awareness tools.
• Gather and evaluate safety information from various sources and database searches to investigate potential signals, documenting and escalating outcomes appropriately.
• Prepare accurate and fit-for-purpose safety evaluation documents with clear conclusions for internal requests and regulatory authorities.
• Contribute to the safety elements of regulatory submissions for new products, formulations, indications, and licence renewals.
• Provide safety input into development programmes covering clinical studies, real-world evidence, post-authorisation safety studies, pharmacoepidemiological studies, and sensory studies.
• Support risk minimisation and product information activities, including umbrella branding assessments, product labelling, and documentation for labelling updates.
• Support preparation of safety-related documentation such as safety components of Safety Data Exchange Agreements.
• Maintain readiness to support internal audits and regulatory inspections.
• Represent Consumer Safety Science on cross-functional project teams and contribute to Consumer Safety process improvement initiatives.
