AI-First Software Engineer

At CluePoints, we are a technology scale-up providing Risk-Based Quality Management (RBQM) and Data Quality Oversight software that uses advanced statistics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to ensure the quality and integrity of clinical trial data. The company has a dynamic international team representing more than 40 nationalities and focuses on helping life sciences organizations bring safer treatments to patients faster.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Proficiency in Python; familiarity with TypeScript is a strong plus.
• Daily practical use of AI coding assistants in development workflows.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for hallucinations, security risks, architectural drift, and edge cases.
• Experience with Spec-Driven Development frameworks such as OpenSpec, SpecKit, BMAD, or Superpowers.
• Strong testing discipline with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Solid understanding of API design (REST), relational databases like MySQL, and at least one NoSQL database.
• Comfort with regulated or compliance-sensitive environments or willingness to quickly learn GxP expectations.

Nice to have:

• Experience building structured AI-assisted workflows like prompt pipelines and agent orchestration.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud.
• Background in life sciences, healthcare, or regulated industries.
• Contributions to open-source AI tooling or developer productivity projects.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with clinical trial data standards such as CDISC or RBQM concepts.

• Use AI coding tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to generate and critically review production code before pull requests.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Tech Leads to refine structured specifications for both human and AI implementation.
• Own complex integration points, edge cases, and performance considerations.
• Maintain and increase test coverage across unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Participate in architectural discussions and long-term technical decisions.
• Monitor production behavior of AI-accelerated systems and address stability and performance proactively.
• Help evolve AI-First engineering practices including prompting patterns, review checklists, and spec templates.
