Senior Java Developer

ITRex is an AI pioneer company with 250+ employees spread across the US and Europe, working on real-world AI systems for clients like Procter & Gamble and Shutterstock.

• Strong experience with Java 11 and Java 17 including concurrency, collections, memory behavior, and modern language features
• Solid production-grade expertise with the Spring Framework and Spring Boot including dependency injection, configuration, Spring Data, Spring Security, REST controllers, and testing
• Experience in Web API development including design, versioning, documentation, and evolution
• Knowledge of microservice architecture including service decomposition, inter-service communication, resilience patterns, and data ownership
• Proficient in SQL and relational data modeling with PostgreSQL and MySQL including schema design, indexing, query tuning, and migrations
• Habitual use of automated testing with JUnit, Mockito, integration tests, and good judgment on coverage
• Use of Maven for build and dependency management
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and debugging workloads, services, config, secrets, and resource limits
• Familiarity with Terraform and infrastructure as code
• Competence with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Jenkins including reading, extending, and fixing pipelines
• Practical experience and genuine interest in AI-assisted software development
• Willingness to work in pair programming
• Strong communication skills and experience in cross-functional teams
• English language proficiency at B2 level or above

• Observability tools such as Grafana, Kibana, ELK stack, and Sentry
• Structured logging and alerting design
• Performance testing and profiling JVM services under load
• Experience introducing AI-assisted workflows, including prompt/context practices and review discipline
• Prior lead or tech-lead experience on distributed backend systems

• Design, build and own Spring Boot microservices and the associated Web APIs, from data model to Kubernetes deployment
• Take end-to-end responsibility for features: schema, service, API contract, tests, pipeline, and production behavior
• Use AI assistance deliberately in design, implementation, refactoring, testing, and review, maintaining accountability for merged code
• Help establish AI-assisted engineering practices and onboarding for new team members
• Pair program with other engineers on difficult tasks and share knowledge openly
• Contribute to architectural decisions on service boundaries, communication patterns, and data ownership
• Maintain build pipeline health with GitLab and Jenkins stages, test suites, container builds, and Terraform infrastructure
• Review code thoroughly and constructively
• Collaborate directly with product, QA, and DevOps to deliver shippable solutions from ambiguous requirements
• Set technical direction in your system area and mentor surrounding engineers
